Talk:Katrina PeopleFinder Project

From Katrina Help Info

Current status:

Thanks to the Craigslist guys and a little scripting by me and Gabe, the Craigslist chunks are good to go. A few have been claimed and a few completed.

I'm now working on a script that will chunk and assign the sites that run using phpBB boards. Hope to have those chunks online in a few hours.

restructuring page

I am adding a lot of info about the technical project that is going on in conjunction with the unstructured data set project. to do this i had to split off the page into two sections. hope nobody minds.

cilibrar section

I just finished grabbing a snapshot of gulf coast DB. I linked up the SQL and the Ruby script on the Wiki. What should I focus on next? --cilibrar

Questions

There are a lot of websites out there with these lists. One of the larger ones if found at http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2005/hurricanes/list/ If we are looking for more lists, think we should say so. If not, I think we should say so. Or maybe it's all here, but I just don't see it. Nkb

Still a need?

I'm wondering if there is still a need for this project. A web crawler (http://news.yahoo.com/katrinahelp.com) is now set up to search many sites. And after a couple of weeks, I wonder how many people are still disconnected. I have no idea. Maurreen 17:59, 17 Sep 2005 (EDT)
