    • National Disaster Animal Relief & Supply (NDARS) is a group of volunteers providing Foster Care, Supplies (crates, food, medical items), and other items needed for Major Disasters, such as Katrina was. There will be a coordinator for every state involved, as well as a central database to volunteer goods or services.

  • The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act (PETS Act, H.R. 3858)
    • Requires local and state emergency preparedness authorities to include in their evacuation plans how they will accommodate household pets or service animals in case of a disaster. Local and state authorities must submit these plans in order to qualify for grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
