Subject: Rescue needs help with Katrina horses, puppies

Hello,

My name is Nicole. I am the secretary of the equine rescue we call Choctaw Ridge Farms. I am e-mailing to request assistance. Choctaw Ridge was doing fine until the infamous hurricane Katrina visited. Since then the adoptions have ceased which is making it increasingly impossible to feed and hay. The horses we received by individual owners have been surrendered permanantly to us so we have more horses to support with no income. We are in desperate need of round bales and square bales of hay. Where we are, lack of rain has caused hay fields not to grow. Any hay the hay growers come across are being used for their own livestock and cannot spare any extra. We are also in need of pelleted feed. Most of our horses are older and cannot eat grain or plain sweet feed. If anyone can help with feed, hay, or even donations, this will be greatly appreciated. Our website is http://www.choctawridge.bravehost~com/ (.com) Please visit and our contact information is there.

Also, along with horses, we have numerous dogs that we have rescued. We have quite a few dogs from the coast that would Love to find a home. We have about 11 young puppies that are almost ready to wean from their momma. They are border collie mixes that would grow up to be about medium size dogs. Their mom will also be ready to go soon. We have about four young small dogs that would be great family pets also. Please help us here also. Feel free to Forward to anyone you know that you think could help out.

The shelter in Hammond is totally full and they are having to euthanize daily to make space. There are some FANTASTIC animals there! There are lots of unique looking cats as well. There is also an abuse case, a medium sized black fuzzy mix who was dumped after someone cut his throat! Please take a look at the pics at the following links and let me or Betz know if you can help anything.

Thanks,
Karen

PLEASE CROSSPOST FAR AND WIDE

URGENT

THE STARVING ANIMALS OF HURRICANE KATRINA NEED YOU NOW

Today in New Orleans, we had ONLY FIVE PEOPLE to feed the THOUSANDS of Katrina animals who remain on the streets. These animals are trying to stay alive long enough for their people to return or to be rescued.

Animal Rescue New Orleans http://www.animalrescueneworleans.com/ has mapped OVER 2,800 Food/Water locations that need to be refilled !!

MOST Food/Water stations are not refilled for over a WEEK because we don't have enough people to feed the animals.

It is desperate down there.

The animals are starving again.

Two more emaciated dogs came in yesterday

PLEASE GO FEED THE STARVING ANIMALS.

If you can't go yourself, then help spread the word that we need more volunteers.

Crosspost far and wide.

THIS IS URGENT.

If you go down to help support ARNO's Food/Water program, don't let ANYTHING or ANYONE stand in your way. Please don't stay at the shelter -- GO OUT AND FEED THE ANIMALS THAT HAVE NOT YET BEEN RESCUED. The animals who are NOT in the shelter need you MORE than the animals in the shelter. The shelter animals are fed every day -- but the thousands of animals on the street may eat ONLY ONCE A WEEK !!

PLEASE GO FEED THE STARVING ANIMALS.

They need you. The animals need you to go work hard to get them fed -- to work a 12-14 hour day -- to refill over 100 Food/Water stations a day. It's the only way we can keep them alive.

We used to keep them well-fed.

Now we are struggling just to keep them ALIVE.

PLEASE GO FEED THE STARVING ANIMALS who are living under homes.

Permission to crosspost far and wide

For more information on how to help the thousands of Katrina animals, please visit the Animal Rescue New Orleans website: http://www.animalrescueneworleans.com/

THANK YOU for anything you can do to help the innocent victims of Katrina.
